The Oyo State Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Students Teslim Abiola, has stated that the body has given a seven days Ultimatum to the Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka.
The Ultimatum was given in respect of the Current Suspension of the Varsity Students Union which the Association found ‘unacceptable’. Speaking during an online interview with a Radio program CampusVibes, the Oyo State NANS chairman said “We have written a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the University requesting for dialogue on the issues, we expect a reply within seven days after which we would know what next to do”.
On what NANS would do to the University if Dialogue fails to produce results, Teslim said “We would call a Congress of the Students in the University and take decisions from there”.
It would be recalled that Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan had alleged that NANS planned to disrupt the University examinations which kicked off on January 8,a claim that NANS rebuffed.
University of Ibadan Students Union was suspended after protest against alleged poor welfare in the institution amongst other issues.
